I agree with Chris Morgan. Good job! Just moved to Colorado Springs & found out kayak fishing is a must have. More-so, sister is a kayaker & I'm an angler so 2 birds with one stone. Currently looking at the Old Town PDL 106 but haven't pulled the trigger yet. This video helped educate me instead of diving into it blindfolded. And yes, I did subscribe.👍

I'm old and I want to go basic. The main fishing lake near me prohibits motors and pedal drives, so that's not my problem. I've had boats and fish finders and all that jazz. I want to relax, paddle around and fish I'm sure there are others like me. You gearheads are okay, it's just not for me. I will go with the inflatable life jacket because I can't stand the heat. Two rods, a medium light and an ultralight, and maybe someday a fly rod. I had a fly rod years ago and it got broken. I'm even tempted to put my old fly reel on my ultralight spinning rod and see if I can cast with it. The safety stuff, of course I will have. I have plenty of tackle and lures, and the two rods will do me. Bass and crappies in the late spring, early summer, maybe try for some brown trout too.

Now that I’ve seen so many videos from yourself Jay and others I think when you have the 10 most important things to have in a tournament event and how much you draw to those important items that are must have. Whistle, emergency phone and the number one wearing your marine navy approve PDF and maybe learn how to get in and out of your kayak before you even get on the water I think! Proper rain gear or even a dry suit hydration and snacks and then have fun! Creating your style, learning techniques proper catch, capture and release all will come in time!

How long is your paddle? I’m 5’9 tall and also have the Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 (has Navarre seat riser). Trying to figure the right size length paddle for me.

Strongly suggest getting a high quality flashlight that has the strobe light function to point at boats coming toward you …… saved my butt on a couple occasions because they ain’t looking!!!!

I wear an inflatable for fishing. Don't even know I have it on. The lake I fish frequently has alot of kayaks at times. I have never seen anyone with a pfd on . What am I missing? Our WI state law requires it.
